Hot off a 3 goal come-back that saw the Cougars steal a point from the Panthers last night, the Cougars were back at it for game 4 of the cohort series against the Panthers.

The opening frame was fairly even. Both teams trading chances and hits. The lone goal came when Esposito launched a wrist shot to the net from the blue line, and a major scramble out front saw Brandon McClintick whack at the puck several times before finally beating Brayden Evans. It was his 2nd on the season. Cougars lead 13-8 in shots heading into the intermission.

The 2nd period was almost all Cougars. On a transition, and with the Cougars on the man-advantage, Simon Pollock grabbed his first as a Cougar when Panthers net-minder Evans over committed and left the right side of the net wide open. The Panthers would get one back 3 minutes later when Speirs grabbed his second goal in as many games. But, less than a minute later Dumonceaux buried a rebound off a point shot. Then with less than a minute to go in the period, Irwin made it 4-1 on the Power-Play. A beauty tic-tac-toe had Evans out of position.

Golden would add to the onslaught early in the 3rd with a pile of people in the penalty box. A one-timer at the bottom of the left circle had the Cougars up 5-1. Then with 8 minutes left Golden got another one after a Cam LeSergent shot hit the net and Golden was on the door-step to bury the rebound. This one would end with the Cougars knocking off the Panthers 6-1. There was a slew of penalties in the final frame. Most coming from lack of discipline on both sides. The worst coming in the final seconds of the game when Ethan Roworth took a nasty crosscheck to the neck from Evan Crawford. That netted him 5 and a game with 10 seconds to go.

Next up is game 5 next Thursday in Victoria, 7pm.
