Cougars Hand Out Year End Awards

Rookie Of The Year – Ryan Comisky (18G 47A – 65PTS / 2nd in Team Scoring and Top Rookie In League Scoring)

“For a first-year player Ryan played with the confidence of a veteran. Coming up clutch many times this season with some silky no look passes and big timely goals Ryan was an integral part of our team success. Leading the league in rookie scoring and 7th overall is quite the accomplishment along with a +30. Ryan has done a great job this season and is ready for the next level next season.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach

Top Defenceman – Chase Barlow (8G 36A – 44PTS / Top Scorer Among Defence)

“Chase really adapted to being one of the go to reliable defenders this season. From the start of the season Chase just got better and better each week adding more and more offense as the season went on and defending tenaciously leading the team in hits and top D at +25. Chase led both verbally and by example this season and his commitment to making the team better every day he couldn’t be denied the top defenseman award or his new nickname of EkBar.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Top Forward – Jackson Estey (25G 39A – 64PTS / 3rd in Team Scoring)

“Jackson was an impressive presence every game in his 20-year-old season. Leading by example the silent assassin came up clutch in so many situations with 6 GWG’s as well as tying for the team lead with a +35 and tied for the team lead in shots on goal. Jackson was a pleasure to coach this year and we’re looking to help him do something special in his final season of junior hockey playoffs.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Most Valuable Player – Ethan Roworth (22G 47A – 69PTS / Top In Team Scoring and 6th in League Scoring)

“What an incredible season for Ethan had he not been injured twice there’s no telling what he could have done. His leadership on and off the ice stepping up as captain was fantastic. Statistically speaking he was well rounded especially considering he missed 10 regular season games. He led us in scoring, tied for the lead at +35, 4th on the team in hits, 3rd on the team in shots on goal and second on the team in face-offs. The team had an amazing .760 record this season but even more impressive when Ethan was in the lineup we were and incredible .795 showing why he is our MVP for this season.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Unsung Hero – Kieran Strange (33G 26A – 59PTS / Top in Team Goals and 3rd In League Goals)

“Kieran is a leader on the team but may not always be the first player talked about. It’s his intangibles that makes him so special. He is at or near the top of many statistical categories including most goals, one of the best plus/minus, leading forward for blocked shots and one of the top face off % in the league. He brings so many diverse assets to the team that should be recognized.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Coaches Award – Aiden Beavan (3G 8A – 11PTS)

“Aiden continues to get better every day. Reliable defensively and an intelligent player who maximizes his personal skill set. Leading the team in blocked shots and a solid plus minus at only 17 the sky is the limit.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Coaches Award – Luca Redford (3G 11A – 14PTS)

“Luca plays the game the right way every shift. Very open to feedback and making adjustments to continually get better every day. He’s had a great season and we look for more from him in the playoffs and years to come.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Outstanding Community Service – Mateo Pivetta (2G 6A – 8PTS)

“Always the first to volunteer at school or community events as well as Cougars drop-in Hockey. Matteo is selfless and giving to the community and his team.” – Chris Lynn, Head Coach.

Broadcasters Award – Isaac Phillips (21G 20A – 41PTS)

“Every year there is always that one player that stands out from the rest. They don’t always score the most, but you know when they are on the ice every time. This year Isaac was that player for me. He was a blast to watch. Fast, fantastic playmaker, and just fun to watch.” – Jordan Smith, Play-By-Play Broadcaster.

Scoring Leader – Ethan Roworth

Volunteer Of The Year – Claudia Roch and Gloria Tytgat

“The two recipients of this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award are the first people you engage with before our home games. They provide a warm welcome to our fans and the fans of our opponents and represent our program with class and respect for all.” – Tony Carlson, VP Hockey Operations.
