Estey Outranks Generals
The second and last meeting, in the regular season, between the Generals and Cougars went down in Parksville Saturday night. Game one of the season series was way back on September 30th in Victoria, with the Cougars taking the 4-1 win on the back of a 2 goal performance from Kieran Strange.
Zach Piche opened the scoring early in the 1st period, after powering into the zone up the right side and burying it short side. The Gens would get one back 4 minutes later to keep the pace even to that point. Jackson Estey would get his first of the night short-handed, his 4th shorty of the year, after stealing the puck from Carter Johnson at the Gens blue-line and going in alone. Estey also got a shorty last night against Saanich.
The 2nd period was all Cougars on the score sheet. Pang and Estey got back to back goals exactly 1 minute apart. Estey’s coming on the power-play.
The final frame saw a slew of goals. Dylan Franklin would make it 5-1 early into the period then Estey would complete the hat-trick at the mid-point of the 3rd. Oren Louie would get one for the Gens, but Strange drove the dagger home 21 seconds later.
The Cougars are now off until Thursday when they take on the Wolves at home.
